My Father to Me a view through photography

College/University: The Arts Institute at Bournemouth
Course Level/Title: MA Photography
Date: 2008

These images form part of a series entitled My Father to Me a view through photography. By appropriating and re-presenting film footage, images and artefacts from his past Jonathan Baggaley explores his relationship with his father while reflecting on the conventions of photographic representation. Themes in his work include: love reclaimed; being observed but not seen; photography as intrusion; and the family photograph as a form of evidence. Baggaley aims to reinterpret and question familial mythologies and to reveal layers of emotional significance inherent in seemingly prosaic images and objects. www.jonathanbaggaley.co.uk
